City of Palouse:
11/11: Animal Noise, 525 N. J Street. A resident called in a report of a puppy that sounded in distress. An officer observed the animal in an enclosed outside run, and contacted the owners. A verbal warning was issued.
11/12: Found property. A resident found a pink women’s mountain bike under the Church Street bridge and turned it over to the Police Department.
11/12: Assist EMS, 700 Block W. Church Street. An officer assisted EMS personnel with a heart patient because they believed the patient would be combative.
11/13: Suspicious Circumstances, Palouse School. A school employee called police because she believed someone had been driving a school-owned van without authorization. Two Palouse juveniles were later charged with taking a motor vehicle without permission.
11/13: Assist Idaho State Police/Traffic Accident, Palouse Cove Road just inside Idaho. ISP requested an officer help with EMS and traffic control until they arrived.
11/13: Civil Dispute, Palouse RV Park. A citizen reported someone else had parked in their reserved spot.
11/15: Assist WCSO/Traffic Accident. The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance with a two-car accident on Palouse Cove Road until a deputy could arrive.
11/16: Theft, 100 Block West Almota Street. The Palouse Car Wash owner reported the theft of a $60 vacuum hose. There are no suspects.
11/17: Junk Vehicles, 700 Block N. Proctor, 400 Block E. Maxwell, 300 Block E. Cannon Street, and 1600 Block E Idaho Street. An officer tagged several vehicles and sent letters to the vehicle and/or property owners.
11/18: Trespassing, 400 Block E. Alder Street. A resident called to report that his brother was staying at his house without permission. An officer spoke with the brother and removed him from the premise without incident.
11/21: Attempted Fraud, 100 Block E Houghton Street. A resident called to report someone calling the house demanding money.
11/23: Burglary/Theft/Malicious Mischief/Taking Motor Vehicle Without Permission, Palouse High School. School staff reported the school had been entered over the weekend and property damaged. Two juveniles were detained, questioned, and released into the custody of their parents. Charged were forwarded to the Whitman County Prosecutor.
11/30: Suspicious Vehicle, Palouse Grange Hall. A resident reported a purple-colored semi-tractor parked in the parking lot. An officer investigated the truck, with belonged to Roth Trucking of Viola, Idaho.
Town of Garfield:
11/03: Juvenile Problem, 200 Block E Main Street. A resident made a public claim that the Police Department did not act upon an alleged juvenile assault that had occurred days earlier. The Department was previously unaware of said assault. An officer attempted to obtain more information. The claim was unfounded.
11/03: Barking Dogs, N 5th Street and Adams Street. A resident reported that dogs were left unattended in yard all day, and were barking. An officer contacted the owner and issued a verbal warning.
11/04: Junk Vehicles, 7th and California Streets; 7th and Spokane Streets. An officer tagged several vehicles identified as meeting the junk vehicle ordinance and sent a letter of notification to the vehicle and/or property owners.
11/05: Assist EMS, 300 Block W. California Street. An officer assisted EMS personnel with an elderly patient that fell down.
11/07: Dog Impound, 500 Block N 7th Street. A resident reported three puppies had appeared in their yard and could not determine the ownership. An officer transported the puppies (two golden retrievers and a Rottweiler mix) to the Whitman County Humane Society.
11/12: Theft, 300 Block N 3rd Street. A resident reported a carburetor had been stolen off a push mower in the back yard sometime in the past 5 weeks.
11/13: Loose Dog, 500 Block N 7th Street. A resident reported a neighbor’s dog had escaped the yard. An officer contacted the owner and issued a verbal warning.
11/19: Property Dispute, 200 Block N 8th Street. A citizen reported that a Garfield resident had unlawfully taken property.
11/20: Loose Dogs, Main and 2nd Streets. A citizen reported a pit bull and yellow lab that were running loose. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the dogs.
11/21: 911 Hang-up, 500 Block N 7th Street. An officer was sent to a residence three times during one day for 911 calls. Everyone at the residence was okay each time.
11/22: Hit and Run, 500 Block E Main Street. A resident reported that their fence had been driven into by a vehicle that slid upon the icy road. A witness reported a small white SUV leaving the scene. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.
11/22: 911 Hang-up, 500 Block N 7th Street. An officer was dispatched to a residence following a 911 hang-up. The police dispatcher informed the officer en route that she was able to determine residents at the home were not in any danger.
11/24: Civil Standby, 200 Block N. 8th Street. An officer’s presence was requested while a citizen retrieved personal property from a resident’s home.
11/27: Loose Dog, 400 Block N 2nd Street. A resident reported a loose yellow lab in their yard. When an officer arrived, the dog was released to the custody of its owner with a verbal warning.
