City of Palouse:
10/02: Parking Violation, 500 Block E Park Street. An officer contacted the registered owner of an illegally parked vehicle following a citizen complaint.
10/02: Concealed Pistol License application received.
10/03: Dogs at Large, 400 Block E Maxwell Street. A resident reported a black lab and setter loose near his rabbit pens. An officer was unable to locate the dogs.
10/04: Assist WSP, SR 27 mp 17. A state trooper asked an officer for assistance in dispatching an injured deer.
10/05: Unattended Death, 300 Block E Alder Street. An officer determined the deceased, Dwight L Parrish, 89, was on hospice care and family members were present. No suspicious circumstances.
10/10: Citizen Assist, Main and Bridge Streets. A citizen requested assistance after locking himself out of his vehicle.
10/15: Reckless Burning, 300 Block E Main Street. An officer contacted a resident illegally burning trash in a burn barrel behind a building.
10/17: Dog Impound, 300 Block N G Street. A resident reported a loose black lab in the area. An officer took the dog, which had no ID tags or license, into custody and transported to the Humane Society.
10/19: Dog Impound, 400 Block N Division Street. A resident reported a lost small terrier type dog in her back yard. The dog had no license/tags, and was transported to the Humane Society.
10/24: Domestic Dispute, 100 Block W Whitman Street. An officer and WCSO deputy responded to a verbal domestic dispute. The officer determined no assault occurred.
10/24: Theft, 100 Block W Whitman. A resident reported he believed his son had stolen his prescription medication. An officer did not find probable cause, but advised the man to take his son to the hospital for evaluation/treatment if he was concerned for his son’s safety.
Town of Garfield:
10/05: Harassment, 600 Block W Spokane Street. An Avista Utilities employee reported a resident had threatened him when he shut off electrical service for non-payment. The resident admitted the act and apologized. The Avista employee did not want to press charges.
10/06: Dog Impound/Notice of Infraction, 700 Block W Main Street. A city employee called police when a dog was found loose near city hall. The dog was transported to the Humane Society and the owners fined following multiple complaints and warnings.
10/10: 911 Hang-up, 1000 Block W Adams Street. Whitcom dispatched an officer to a residence following a 911 hang-up/busy on call-back. An officer found the residents okay. One of the residents claimed to have misdialed a number, and then immediately hung up and dialed the correct number, hence the busy signal.
10/14: CPS Referral/Child Abuse, 500 Block S 3rd Street. An officer was contacted by Child Protective Services following a citizen complaint of child abuse. The officer and CPS conducted a joint investigation and determined the complaint to be unfounded.
10/18: Assist WCSO, Burglary at Garfield Cemetery. A WCSO deputy contacted an officer for assistance with the investigation.
10/19: Citizen Assist, Garfield School. An officer was contacted by Whitcom, who informed the officer that two people had locked themselves in a storage area and could not get out. The officer provided Whitcom with employee contact information. An employee was quickly reached by telephone, and he responded to the school to let the trapped people out.
10/21: Dog at Large, 200 Block N 4th Street. A resident reported a loose black lab in the area. An officer contacted the owner and issued a verbal warning.
10/25: Dog at Large, Wesley and S 3rd Streets. A citizen reported a loose beagle mix in the area, running in traffic. An officer located the dog, who had returned home and advised the owner, who had been unaware of the situation.
10/27: Disturbance, Garfield Gun Club. A resident reported someone shooting at the range after dark. An officer contacted the subjects, and issued a verbal warning.
10/28: Motor Vehicle Collision, S 3rd and Jefferson Streets. An officer responded to a two-vehicle collision.
10/29: Dog at Large/Aggressive, 200 Block N 4th Street. A resident complained that a black lab was loose in a yard and it barked and snarled at him in an aggressive manner. An officer contacted the owner, and advised he would be issued a fine on the next offense.
10/29: Assault/DV, 400 Block E California Street. An officer was contacted by juvenile services to investigate a previously unreported domestic assault that had occurred 10 days earlier.
10/30: Dog at Large/Nuisance Animal, 500 Block W. Main Street. A resident reported a small dog had knocked over his garbage can and made a mess. An officer contacted the owner with a verbal warning, and the owner cleaned up the mess.
