City of Palouse:
09/05: Solicitation complaint. A resident complained of people going door-to-door selling vacuum cleaners. An officer contacted the salespeople, and advised them of city ordinance. The salespeople left the city without incident.
09/06: Weapons Offense, Palouse RV Park. A patron of the RV park said he was shot in the back with a BB gun. Saw kids playing with gun on Whitman street and believes it was unintentional. An officer contacted three juvenile males, who admitted to shooting a pop can. The juveniles were released to their parents and the BB gun seized.
09/06: Assist WSP/Traffic Hazard, SR 27 mp 18. Washington State Patrol requested assistance with a cow on the road out of town. An officer removed the animal from the roadway and contacted the owner.
09/11: Lost Dog, 300 Block W Mohr Street. A resident called to report his dog was stolen. Another resident later reported a found dog. Dog and owner were reunited.
09/14: Found Property, Almota Road and Palouse Cove Road. A resident found a set of keys along the roadway and turned them over to police.
09/16: Residential Burglary, 400 Block N Mary Street. Residents reported their home had been entered and approximately $3000.00 in cash and electronics had been taken. The home was unsecured. There are no suspects or leads.
09/17: Suspicious Person, Palouse Tavern. A bartender requested officer present for closing after an out-of-town patron began asking personal questions and making her feel threatened.
09/19: Fraud. A resident reported a suspicious transaction regarding a sale of property arranged over email. The resident, who was cautious, did not complete the transaction.
09/25: Paper service. At the request of a citizen and their attorney, an officer served civil court papers to a Palouse resident.
Town of Garfield:
09/11: Barking Dogs, 800 Block W Spokane Street. A resident called to complain a neighbor’s dogs had been barking some time ago. An officer contacted the owner to explain the complaint, and contacted the resident to explain procedure for future incidents.
09/12: Barking Dogs, 200 Block W. Union Street. A resident called at 0100 hours to report dogs barking in the area. An officer verified the barking. The owners were not home. The officer later contacted the owners and issued a verbal warning.
09/14: Suspicious Person, Grumpy’s Tavern. An officer received information on a patron who had been asking to purchase dope. The subject was later identified, contacted, and issued a verbal warning.
09/15: Animal Cruelty, 700 Block W Main Street. A citizen called to report a sick dog that has been tied up and is full of maggots. An officer checked on the dog, who was doing better.
09/17: CPS Referral/Child Abuse, 700 Block W Main Street. A citizen reported a suspected child abuse case to Child Protective Services. CPS agents and police investigated the complaint and determined it was unfounded.
09/21: Traffic Offense, West Main Street. An officer stopped a vehicle for traveling nearly 20mph over the posted speed limit. The driver had extensive recent history of speeding. A notice of infraction was issued.
09/25: Suspicious Person, Smokin’ Papa’s. A resident contacted police to report a person that was “a little off,” at the restaurant. No other information was provided. An officer was unable to locate the subject.
09/26: Barking Dogs, 7th and Main streets. Several residents reported an on-going problem regarding dogs in the area. An officer contacted several dog owners to discuss the situation and issue verbal warnings.
09/26: Loose Dog, Garfield Pool. A resident called to report a large black dog that was unrestrained near the pool. An officer located the dog, and escorted him home with a verbal warning to the owner.
09/28: CPS Referral/Child Abuse, 700 Block W Main Street. A citizen reported a case of suspected child abuse to Child Protective Services. CPS agents and police investigated the complaint and determined it was unfounded.
09/29: A concealed pistol license renewal application was received and processed.
09/30: Domestic Dispute, Cleveland and S. 3rd streets. Officers were dispatched to a home in the area in response to a loud argument. The argument was determined to be verbal only, and no criminal act had occurred.
