City of Palouse:

06/02:  Two Concealed Pistol License applications.

06/02:  Loose Dog, 500 Block E Bluff Street.  Unknown owner.  Dog impounded.

06/03:  Concealed Pistol License application.

06/05:  Traffic Hazard, 400 Block N Bridge Street.  An overhead telephone cable had been blown down by the wind.  A resident secured the line.  Verizon notified.

06/05:  Citizen Dispute/Assault, Palouse City Pool.  A juvenile male reported he had been pushed by an adult while at the pool.  The suspect denied the claim, and no uninvolved parties present witnessed the claim.

06/05:  Traffic Offense, Maxwell and I Streets.  A citizen reported a silver RAV4 was spinning donuts in the high school parking lot.  An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

06/08:  Littering/Found Property.  A juvenile male found property near the foot bridge at the 200 Block E Main Street.

06/08:  Suspicious Circumstances, 900 Block N Boman Street.  A resident reported someone banging on his front door at 10pm Sunday night.  An officer asked him to call 911 the next time something like that happened.

06/08:  911-Hangup, 300 Block E Houghton.  Phone line problem.  Resident was ok.

06/11:  Welfare Check, 600 Block W Whitman Street.  A citizen called to report that a friend was possibly in danger.  An officer contacted the friend, who was fine.

06/11:  Loose dog, Main and Bridge streets.  Owner was unavailable.  Dog was impounded.

06/12:  Abandoned Vehicle, 400 Block E Alder Street.  Contruction crews reported a red Honda blocking work to be done.  An officer tagged the vehicle for removal.

06/12:  Assist WSP: Hit and Run/DUI.  The Washington State Patrol requested help in locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident on SR 27, mile post 3.  An officer found the vehicle coming into town.  After a brief low-speed pursuit, Musila D. Mutisya, 39, of Palouse, was arrested for Hit and Run and Driving while intoxicated.  He was transported to the Whitman County Jail.

06/13:  Criminal Trespass/Malicious Mischief, 700 Block E. Houghton Street.  A resident reported a male had broken a window and was sleeping in the basement after being asked to leave.  Travis M. Dover, 21, was arrested and booked into jail.

06/15:  Domestic Dispute, 100 Block E. Bluff Street.  A juvenile male called the police following an argument with his mother.  An officer determined that no crime had occurred, and explained the situation to the juvenile.

06/18:  Reckless Driving, SR 27 mile post 19.  Derrick J. Pelican, 19, of Spokane was arrested for driving approximately 96mph.  He was issued a criminal citation and released.

06/18:  Assist Fire Department, 500 Block E Bluff Street.  An officer provided traffic control for the fire department, which was assisting someone needing medical aid.

06/21:  Barking Dogs, 700 Block N K Street.  A resident reported multiple dogs barking for the past hour.  An officer verified the noise.  The owners were not home.  The officer posted a letter of warning on the dog owners’ door.

06/28:  Welfare Check, 400 Block E Houghton.  A citizen requested an officer check on her daughter.  The daughter was okay.


Town of Garfield:

06/06:  Loose Dog, unknown location.  The dog was later returned to its owner.

06/06:  Vehicle Prowling, Garfield school.  A citizen reported two male juvenile peeking in cars.  An officer located and identified the juveniles.  After an inspection of the parked cars, the officer determined no crime had occurred.

06/08:  Child Neglect, 200 Block N 4th Street.  Multiple complaints were received regarding small children playing on the highway.  After multiple officer contacts, Child Protective Services was notified of the issue.

06/10:  Theft, 200 Block E California.  The McGregor Company reported that it suspected an employee of using a company fuel card for personal use.  Following an investigation, Jeff Poston, 24, of Garfield, was arrested and booked into jail.

06/11:  Welfare Check, 600 Block W Union Street.  A citizen was concerned for her father, who had picked up a hitch-hiker.  The hitch-hiker was now living with the father.  An officer contacted the father, who reported everything was fine.

06/18:  Juvenile Problem.  A resident reported a juvenile male entered the neighbor’s home without permission.

06/21:  Juvenile Problem.  Multiple residents reported a juvenile male took a resident’s riding lawnmower without permission and went on a joyride.  An officer also confirmed the juvenile mowed a random pattern into a separate resident’s lawn.  At the request of the lawnmower’s owner, an officer gave a very stern lecture to the juvenile in question, and warned that Juvenile Services would receive a report if anything like that happened in the future.

06/24:  Suspicious Circumstances, Garfield School.  A resident reported that a male in a dark sports car sitting in the parking lot at night.  An officer contacted the male, who was a Garfield resident.  The male explained he was only talking on his phone, and that the parking lot was the only place in town with reliable service.

06/25:  Suspicious Circumstances/Trespassing.  A resident reported they suspected a certain juvenile male of entering their home while no one was there.  Nothing appeared to be taken or damaged.  No investigation was conducted for lack of evidence and witnesses.

06/28:  Suspicious Circumstances/Shots Fired, 5th and Adams Streets.  A resident reported they heard a dog barking a few blocks away, then the sound of what appeared to be gunshots, then no more barking.  An officer was unable to locate the source of the potential problem, and no further reports were given.

06/28:  DWLS 2nd Degree.  Following a traffic stop for speeding, Ervin R. Williams, 52, of Fairfield was arrested for driving with a suspended license second degree.
